The Wessex Transport Society was formed in 1983 by a handful of enthusiasts who had an interest in transport - mainly buses and trains.
The objective of our Society is formed with the aim of, "Encouraging and promoting interest in all forms of transport, historic vehicles and the association of the owners of such vehicles".
Current membership is mainly from the Bournemouth and Poole conurbation, but we boast supporters from all over the United Kingdom!

In the past, the Wessex Transport Society organised the successful Poole Bus Running Day and Transport Gathering, the Festival of Transport with buses, commercials and cars, held at Avon Heath Country Park, the Purbeck Bus Rally at Swanage and Ringwood Bus Rally.
Today we provide transport enthusiasts with fascinating and entertaining winter and evening meetings, slide and film shows in the Bournemouth and Poole area.

The Wessex Transport Society supports the Bournemouth Bus Rally, which is held annually at Kings Park, Bournemouth, Dorset. Run by Jonathan Hawkins with the Devon Yellow Bus Fleet.

The Society produced two VHS videos which sold well - "THIS IS WILTS & DORSET" and "FOCUS ON SOUTHERN VECTIS" highlighting the bus operations on the Isle of Wight.
Mike Caldicott and Penny Day also commisioned a one-hour long DVD in 2011:

The Society prides itself on being friendly, helpful and informative. To carry out these objectives in practice we:
- Provide an excellent bi-monthly A4 "REVIEW" magazine, that includes latest bus and train news and articles of historic interest.
- Currently hold meetings during the winter months, September to April at The Denis Gooding Centre, Poole, Dorset.
- Help members using the considerable joint expertise of the Society.
There is an annual subscription, for which you get our exclusive bi-monthly members magazine, packed with items of interest to all transport followers.
